Directional antenna:
Directional antenna is an electronic device used to transmit and
receive radio signals. This antenna radiates greater power in one or
more directions allowing for increased performance on transmit and
receive and reduced interference from unwanted sources. Mainly there
are two types of antennas indoor and outdoor antennas. The indoor
antennas have good reception in a specific location due to multiple
variables. All the antennas are slightly directional.
The normal antennas have a direction in the place parallel to the
earth. A practical antenna can easily be an omnidirectional in one
plane. But always a directional antenna is defined as unidirectional
antenna and not omni directional. The most common types of directional
antennas are yagi, antenna, the log-periodic antenna, and the corner
reflectors. These often make use of external directional antennas to
give a greater signal.
Small directional antennas:
Small directional antennas are one of the types of directional
antennas. These are the most popular rooftop antennas because of their
modest size and ghost reducing characteristics. These antennas are also
called as multi element rooftop antennas. These antennas act like a
large multi directional antennas. On the higher channels like 2 to 6
these antennas start to have useful ghost reducing effects. These
antennas are suitable for far edge of light green color code areas.
Small directional antennas are constructed of high-tensile aluminum for
extra strength to withstand extreme wind and ice loading. The antenna
elements are protected with a high quality polymer finish. This also

Use of small directional antennas:
These antennas are helpful in providing excellent quality of picture when no signal reflecting structures are around. Small directional antennas are helpful in picking up VHF signals in suburban areas. These are the small antennas. They are easy to carry from one place to another. They can be easily fixed and assembled. The color code of the antenna indicates different zones. They improve the utilization of wireless medium. This antenna is one of the decisive factors for better system performance.
